GREENWOOD MAGIC

As previously noted, the Greenwood magic is connected to various spirits that inhabit the plants of Witchcraft. This ancient connection between plants and Witches is deeply rooted in the Old Magic. In the spiritual perspective of the Rose and Thorn Path the organic memory of the earth (Shadow) holds the memory of the Witch as the Pharmakeute. This is the nature of the Witch as one with an intimate connection to the plants and their spirits. It's the memory of the Witch as one who honors the plant realm and venerates the spirits that inhabit it.

As a whole, humans have a negative reputation within the plant realm. We are regarded as “the termite people,” chewing up everything in our path. This is one reason why it's important to awaken the ancient memory of the Pharmakeute so that the Greenwood recalls those who once embraced a spiritual relationship. This is accomplished through the exchange of the red and the green blood and by the announcement of connection.

To begin, find an area that's conducive to making contact with the plant world without being disturbed by other people. Go to the largest tree at the site. You will be making a connection with Shadow (organic memory of the earth) through the deep roots of the tree. All that's required is a container of fresh water, some liquid chlorophyll, three coins of your choosing, and a needle or thorn for pricking your finger.

Begin by approaching the tree slowly. Kneel near the base of its trunk. Place the palms of both hands on the ground, and then focus your thoughts on your love of plant life. Use your breath to send this sentiment to the leaves of the tree. Exhale three times in this manner. You are communicating on the wind as trees do.

The next phase is to place the container of water in front of the tree. Pour a small amount of chlorophyll (the green blood) into the water, and then prick your finger and squeeze out three drops of blood. Mix this in with the green blood. Pour some of the mixture out on the base of the trunk where it meets the ground. Rise to your feet, and then spread your arms and legs out to form an X posture. It's then time to speak the words of awakening memory:
